Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How to replace voltage regulator,
new kenwood stereo goes on and off, was told that voltage regulator will cause this due to spikes up and down, and stereo has a surge protector
that could be the problem ?

1965 vehicles did not have high energy charging systems, I would recommend that you put in a separate battery and alternator just for your stereo and whatever else you may have that is not factory. That way the high power demands can be meet by a separate circuit and keep the rest of it as stock as possible, I would also make it isolated so power won't cross feed. HTH
