Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Gauges are original but replaced the constant voltage regulator. Temp
gauge won't move but when i turn the key to acc the feul gauge rises.
When i start the car the feul gauge drops to nothing.

Replacing the temp sending unit next but any other ideas on both gauges
would be appreciated

A gas gauge that always reads empty is a bad ground. To test the temperature gauge, unplug the wire from the sending unit and put the unplugged end of the wire on something metal, that's not painted to ground the wire. Now turn the ignition to the run position. The temperature gauge should swing immediately to hot. If so, the sending unit is bad or possibly the thermostat is stuck open. If not, check the wiring, and the gauge itself. HTH. -Jim
