2022 Subaru Outback has SiriusXM issues

Asked by GuruD9QZ43 Aug 27, 2023 at 02:07 PM about the 2022 Subaru Outback Premier Wagon AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

SiriusXM does not always turn on when I start the 2022 Outback.  I shut down
the car, wait until the screen is saying "good bye", then start up the Outback
again and SiriusXM turns on.  Since this problem is over six years old, it means
that NO ONE is working on it!

I finally gave up on XM due to reception issues in both my vehicles. But yours sounds like a receiver problem, possibly a software glitch. Have you checked with the dealer for any updates? If none exist then you might want to consider replacing the unit with an aftermarket system.

Take it to the dealer and ask for the Infotainment software update - problem solved 100%

Thank you for this recommendation. I will ask the dealer for this software update. Odd that this software is not available as an upgrade? I've worked in IT for the last 40 years and the process is easy. It is NOT a reception issue, because without moving the car, turn the car off, wait for the "See You" message, and it goes through the Eye Sight & RAB check, then 100% of the time, XM will work. It sounds like a booting process issue. NO excuse why this is an issue for YEARS!

YES! Subaru sent down an update that appears to fix the Sirius issue. I was going to bring it into the dealership, but that is a 1/2-day process with the trip. I received an email from Subaru just a few days ago to update another software download. It took 30 minutes, but it might be too soon, but Sirius started every time in the last two days, 100%. It was at 50% before. The software update's last numbers were 770 if that helps.
