2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Rear Window Opens on it's Own

Asked by Guru98615D May 28, 2022 at 07:15 AM about the 2021 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I received a new (never driven) 2021 Highlander Hybrid XLE from my
employer yesterday and the driver side rear window keeps opening halfway
on it's own. It only rolls back down if I try to roll it up completely, whether
automatically or manually in increments. It rolls completely down no problem
and stays open, but as soon as I roll it up, it pops back open to the halfway
mark. I tried resetting the power windows but no luck. Is there maybe an
obstruction that is causing the window to pop back open?

The master switch for the power windows might need to be reset. Maybe the battery was disconnected or the car lost power at some point. Put the key in the ignition if there is one, or push the start button to turn the power on, but don't start the vehicle. Hold the driver window switch while the glass is going down until it is all the way open. Then reverse the switch and hold the window switch to close it until it is fully closed. Repeat this process on all the other doors windows using the switch control on the doors themselves, not the master switch on the driver door. Once done, turn the car off and see if that fixed your issue.
