Help with starting my car

My VW Passat was fine last night. This morning, had all lights flashing.
Unlocked the door to start but no luck. Now the battery is dead. What could
have gone wrong? Does it need a new battery.

Make sure the battery is fully charged first and check it is still a good battery . Make sure you have a good connection at the battery terminals. Remove clean + - connections reinstall them. Make sure you have a good ground from the battery to the engine block . This is usually the ground for the starter. Remove clean and reinstall at this connection. If everything checks out fine but the battery keeps going dead you may need to check for a short in the system or parasitic draw causing the battery to drain down when the vehicle is not being used.
