volvo 2017 xc60 dome light does not turn on when opening door

Dome light in car stopped working when opening the doors.  Toggle switch on
ceiling pane is set to neutral in the center.  Dome light will manually turn on.
Driver's side vanity light has also stopped working.

Somewhat unusual for a six year old car, but the light switch in the drivers door has failed. It's in the door latch, so it's pretty expensive to fix.
