Asked by Redlac Sep 27, 2022 at 10:01 PM about the 2015 Toyota RAV4 LE

Question type: General

Found a spot of oil on the garage floor. Went under the car and found a small
amount of oil leaking. The picture is from under the car. Can anyone help me in
figuring out what the leak is and how to fix it. Thanks

Clean things up and start it up , then watch for the oil , things run down hill so make sure you ID the source

By the picture, looks like it's coming from the rear engine seal or rear of oil pan. Clean and re-check

I have the same oil leak on my 2017 rav 4, did you ever find out why yours was leaking. I've been to 2 shops and neither have any ideas where the leak is coming from. Thanks for any help

I had the same leak, it was the rear main seal which is a common problem with these cars. To replace that seal is VERY expensive because the engine needs to come out. I tried Blue Devil sealer on a recommendation of a Toyota tech . It did work and is fine now. You can get it at Walmart, and add it when the dipstick reads is a little below full.It does take a couple of weeks of driving to seal. Good luck !
