What does "Almost Sold"?

What does "Almost sold..." specifically refer to?  i.e. number of call into the
dealer, dealer notification or some other algorithymic data.
I ask because I'ved received this notification to only see the car still avialable
weeks after or they are deemed as "Sold" a few minutes after notification.
