2008 Jeep GC Service 4wd warning

Asked by GuruZR25J Nov 23, 2017 at 12:21 PM about the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Here we go again lol...I have an 08 JGC with service 4wd on display - yet
drives fine and can engage 4low.
Tried the fuse pull idea, went for a drive, come back and popped fuse back
in...now cannot select 4 low and light still on?
Done pulled fuse a few times (without driving or engine running) now back to
where it was...just service 4wd light and selects 4 low fine.
Rang dealer/Swindon, I was told it had;
G40 reprogramed EBC Module completed  11/08/2010
N23 reprogram final drive controller module completed 29/09/2016
P41 ignition switch completed 15/12/2016
P73 reprogram final drive control module complete...
I have also had battery checked and is perfect.

Any ideas where I go from here?....

Your final drive control unit has gone south again. This happens. This has always been a problem with the 05 and up Cherokees. A dealership will need to reprogram it again. I know it sucks, but that;s the way it is. Maybe someday Chrysler will address this problem with a real fix, but I seriously doubt it. Not when they get $700 a pop for a 30 minute reprogram.

Sooooo.... had "service 4wd system" alert and then one day my 2008 jeep gc 5.7 hemi wouldn't start. Took it in and it was a fuse that controls both. NOTE: FUSE WAS NOT FRIED! It just tested as having bad resistance. They replaced the fuse and the error for "service 4wd system" has been gone since and she starts everytime! CHECK RESISTANCE ON THE FUSE!!!!
