2000 vw beetle tranny

Ok so my buddy is parting out a 99 gti GOLF 2.0 5speed
tranny and i have a 2.0 vw beetle that needs a tranny both
are 5speeds and 2.0 could i drop mine out and put his in
with no problems and not needing to chsnge snything
else?

You can try and see but the part numbers between 5 speed transmissions between the 2 are different.

I pulled the 5-speed out of a Jetta and put it in my beetle and it worked, still different cars tho
