93 f150 not starting

Asked by Austin_c_davis Mar 31, 2024 at 10:56 PM about the 1993 Ford F-150 XLT 4WD LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1993 f150 xlt long bed 5.8, has 351 Windsor in it. 30,XXX miles. I
haven't had this truck long, but it has developed a recent problem. I can drive
it less then a quarter mile, shut it off, then it wont start. it has a rough idle,
when you start it and give it no gas it wants to die, but stays running, its
burning very black, and I know its running rich. I think that it is flooding itself
when i go to start it again due to the fact i can smell gas after i shout it off and
try and start it again, i donĀ“t think it has anything to do with something being
heat sensitive, but i could be wrong. it starts up immediately after it sits for a
few hours.. any advice would help, thank you in advance
