Best SUV with third row seating?

Asked by cmay Jan 02, 2011 at 05:27 PM about the Dodge Journey

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am looking for a used SUV with third row seating. I had been looking at all the other SUV's like the Journey - Acadia, Traverse, Highlander, Pilot.  At a glance it looks like the Journey is a bargin and it seems to meet my criteria - third row seating, AWD or 4XD. Am I accessing the Journey correctly?

This is an old post, but I'm assuming others are still viewing it with the same considerations. I have a 2012 Journey and I'm pleased with my purchase. You'll definitely want to go with the V6 and AWD in the Journey. Visibility is poor out of the rear but it's comfortable and nimble. I rented a Traverse for a week and didn't like it, plus I hear friends talk about problems they have. I'm not a fan of the Pilot because of styling and power concerns. I like the Acadia and the Highlander, but both were priced higher than I was willing to go - especially with all the discounts/rebates you can get with a Dodge. BTW, if you're looking to put larger kids/people in the third row, you might as well look at getting something like a Suburban (which we traded in for the Journey - great comfort, poor MPG) because none of these vehicles will be very comfortable in the third row for anyone older than 10.
