Why is my Car accelerator not working?

Asked by Phillyfan1 Jun 05, 2017 at 08:38 PM about the 2017 Hyundai Elantra

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra. I've been driving it for 8 months and have a
little over 4000 miles on it. about 2-3 weeks ago when I'm driving the
accelerator will stop working. My foot will be all the way down on the pedal
and it will take awhile for the car to get going. The RPM meter is also at 0 not
moving at all and the mph meter is also at 0 (the digital reading) the actual
mph meter still works. Also the traction control light is also on and sometimes
the check engine light also turns on as of late. I use to be able to just turn the
car off and back on and it would fix itself. But more and more lately its been
happening and now when I turn the car on from the start the accelerator and
traction control light turn on before I even get into drive.

Sounds like the accelerator pedal position sensor, and/or the body control module. Have your car scanned for trouble codes by a tech.

I have a 2019 and was driving home and it suddenly did the exact same thing you just described!
