09 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Asked by Ryan45T Jan 31, 2021 at 06:20 PM about the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Jeep won’t start, no clicking, nothing. But do
have power, lights, etc. Brand new battery,
fuses are all good. Going to try the ignition
switch. Do I need to buy a new key too, since
it’s remote start? Or can I program the key I
have to the new ignition switch?

Before you go replacing the ignition switch I would check your starter and alternator to make sure those are working. Also would be good to test the battery with a multimeter. It should be at about 12.5 volts to start. Just because cabin has power does not mean you have enough power to start. Although no clicking would lead me to believe that there is a connection issue there somewhere or the starter itself has completely failed. If those items are good then checking the ignition switch wouldn be a good start.
