What a fair time estate for replacement of an exhaust system rear portion on a subaru forester 2005.

Purchased used car looking at three repair needs and don't want to get con by
mechanic . Car does need rear Exhaust system placement but being 2005 and
original system is better to replace entire system would that save on labor.
Also the hoses to coolant system as well as battery are all original, mechanic
suggests replacing these.

Ya they are all looking for work, but at the same time they are looking at things for preventive maintenance so you don't have trouble just after leaving a shop. That never looks good for a shop not telling you what they (mechanic) notices that can give you trouble. On the exhaust, that is going to be a matter of preference if you want the hole thing replaced. We would show a customer what should be replaced and why. Lot of times parts of the exhaust would have a lot of life yet, and not necessary to replace. There quotes on repair of exhaust should include labor. The coolant and hoses definitely should be replaced along with a new battery. These are like #1 preventive maintenance items as to not have trouble down the road in a short period of time from now.
Replace the hoses first as a major leak could torpedo your engine where as an exhaust leak is just annoying. The battery is less than a hundred dollars so I would do that immediately as well. Usually the rear portions of the exhaust system go first like the muffler.
