Mid 90's saab convertable - just changed car battery now alarm goes off and shuts car down. Can anyone help?

Unlock the doors. Close the doors. Put the key in your pocket. Disconnect the battery for about a half hour. Reconnect the battery. Close the hood. Wait 5 minutes then try to start the engine. You should be good to go.
