Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Looking at a 1991 Turbo(25880 Miles)BLK on BLK for $61,500
All records are presented in detail (3 owners)
I thought I was driving a new car
Paint has only a few very minor clearcoat scratches which can be buffed out
Interior is perfect
Original Paint (never in an accident)
Upgraded H&R springs (euro ride height)
Kinesis 18s
Upgraded Alpine Disc Sound Player
Recalls have been completed
Rear main seal was replaced
No leaks
Otherwise Immaculate Immaculate Immaculate
Noticed chrome "turbo" logo in the back is chrome and on all other same model cars I notice it is black ????

According to the kelly blue book this car should retail for $36,075 in excellent shape and trade in values of 23-26k. http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/PricingReport.aspx?ManufacturerId=41&YearId=1991&VehicleClass=UsedCar&VehicleId=11433&SelectionHistory=11433%7c24488%7c90210%7c0%7c0%7c&PriceType=Retail&Mileage=25880&ModelId=254&Condition=Excellent So it all boils dont to what you are willing to pay for a car like this. To me is sounds high. but never the less it is your decession. I would still take it to a mechanic to get it looked at and you might want to get it apperaised, I know that might cost a bit but it might only be worth 35-40k and you would be over-paying. on these high-end cars that is always a great thing to do. If the present owner objects, I would walk away. But again it all boils down to your choice and how much you are willing to pay. You mentioned that you are "Worried about pricing / collectibility / appreciation (depriciation)" if it is not worth 62k (appraisal will tell you that) and you buy it, if it is only worth 40k, you just lost 22k. I would go with your appraisal guy, I have seen some cars sell for a crazy price and the old owner had a "cooked" appraisal done on the car. But as I said, it is your money and your choice. Best of luck

I would have it appraised also by an outside source. It would be better if the auto was all original down to all the bones would be worth more appraisal wise. It comes down to research against others of same quality. How long have you been looking for this type of auto?
