Car died while driving, cranked but would not start again (still had power)

Asked by Scyrge Dec 11, 2016 at 09:37 PM about the 1995 Ford Escort 4 Dr LX Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey guys, just looking for a general direction to go with trying to get my car
fixed. Pretty much what the topic says: I was driving along and noticed a
sudden loss in power (almost felt like I hit something, but I didnt) and then
my engine shut off. My radio and lights were still on so it wasnt a battery
issue as far as I could tell. The car cranks but wont turn on. My battery is
also currently dead from repeated cranking.

Soray some quick start in the throttle body and see if it start for a bit but sounds like bad timing belt. Do a compression test, the timing belt might've broke
