how much r 12 do I need to put in my 91 firebird? what is it suppose to be to start with?

R12 hasn't been available for years. If your lucky, your local shop might still have some, but expect to pay some $$$$. Your bet bet is to use the new R134A. Have a pro do the swap for you, too much is involved for the novice.

all are different ,does it have a sight glass?? do you know how to read ac gauges...is there a problem now?/does the ac clutch kick on??? is it just a little warn??? do you just want to add/top it off??? if so add 1 can to the low side...

R12a is a direct drop in replacement for the old R12 which, if available, is super expensive now! You can buy a recharge kit online at a reasonable cost. But you should have the system leak checked first. Have that done and any leaks repaired before recharging the system. HTH. -Jim
