Have you checked for power and grounds to fuel pump assembly? Remember the power will only come on for a few seconds when you first turn on the key and during cranking. If you have good power and ground and the pump still won't run then you need a fuel pump, as far as what to replace that's up to you, aftermarket has them both ways, I go by if the gauge sender is operating properly then just the pump, pickup sock, fuel filter and relay is replaced, but if the gauge has dead zones or just work then I replace the entire assembly along with the fuel filter and pump relay.
