Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently baught a 97 Trans Am WS6 with an auto trans (I believe it is a 4L60E
but could be wrong) and when you hit the throttle hard the trans pops like I've
hit somthing hard. just wanted to ask on here before i take it to my mechanic
and spend the money.

I think the best bet is to take it to the mechanic on that one. The 4L60E is not a very reliable transmission, and it sounds like you've got something going on internally with it that may require pulling it apart to pin point. Good luck!

Yeah she's going in a few days... the car was pretty abused when i got it. The fluid is black so i wouldn't be suprised if it was the original fluid. thanks for the awnser.

found the problem with the car... a broken trans mount causing it to hit the floor of the car.

Glad to hear you got it fixed up and that it really wasn't too major. Now you can take it out and enjoy the drive!
