I resolve this question & thought I would share-I was one of the lucky ppl who had located the convertible top motor in the trunk on the driver side of my 1997 Pontiac Firebird Convertible- luckily the reservoir that holds the fluid had the opening on the very top- Having the top completely in down position, I unscrewed the plug & used Dextron Transmission fluid to top off- leaving the screw out, & lifted the top closing & opening the top to pump fluid thereby bleeding the air out of the system. I did this several times until the top opened & closed without any hesitation-I topped off the fluid, put the plug screw back & now works flawlessly-sometimes you just have to brave doing it if no one responds or has the answer-I hope this will help someone!
