Code p0442 Pontiac bonneville

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Older car. Stepped on gas at light n car didn't hv
much power when it caught up it revved up and
code came on next day. Doesn't have power and
doesn't shift rt into first few gears. Not like tranny
but like power loss or fuel issue so takes awhile to
get going when stopped and shift up to increase
speed til about 30-40mph.idk anything about
cars.had it reset and it popped back on after 2
days.its not just the code it's also the no get up n
go issue combined. some rust by gas tank cover
.cannot afford take to mechanic. plz help.

I wouldn't think an evap leak would make it run crappy , when did the trouble start ? was anything else done to the car before this ? you can check EGR , loose or cracked hoses ,, clean AIC pocket , MAP , MAF sensors with correct cleaner and spray carb. cleaner down the throttle
