will a 2000 pontiac sunfire engine fit inside of a 2005 pontiac sunfire?

i have a 2000 pontiac sunfire with 108,000 miles on the engine but really bad
rust on the bottom of the vehicle and i have a 2005 pontiac sunfire with a bad
engine my question is will the 2000 sunfire engine work in the 2005 sunfire?

Assuming you have the 2.2L for both? Should all line up, but you may need to swap over some of the modules/harnesses as well. The '05 should be the 2.2 ecotec, which I believe has a higher horsepower rating than the '00 2.2. I don;t think it's a big enough difference to affect gear ratios but I would still keep the engine/trans mated and swap over as a unit. The real challenge is the computer/ecu and harness mating between different model years.
