2000 Firebird Intermittent Miss

Asked by JourneymaJEG Jun 20, 2016 at 12:08 PM about the 2000 Pontiac Firebird Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Innova Scan Tool in showing the miss is due to an aftermarket security
system malfunction interfering with the computer. I wasn’t even aware of any
aftermarket security system on this vehicle. The problem came about right
out of the blue as I punched it before pulling up to the house. A security light
began flashing in the intrument panel & it hasn’t run right since.  Not
knowing what the security light was all about I initially guessed at a couple
of things in which I addressed to no avail so then I bought a midrange scan
tool for a diagnosis which indicated the security system interference with the
computer. Well, this is something new to me & I don’t have a clue as to what
to do from here. Any suggestions from you experts out there?

You have to remove the aftermarket alarm system So the original security system operates correctly.
