Car won't go in drive or reverse

I have a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville sle that won't go
in drive or reverse.it was put on the machine but
nothing came up about the transmission.what
could be thee problem.

Cable to gear selector on transmission may have come loose or broken or the transmission needs to be rebuilt or replaced.
