Question type: Maintenance & Repair

04 Pontiac Montana with 142,000 3.4L engine
it keeps overheating cant figure out what the problem.

> replaced the radiator cap since the in & out hoses were sucked flat. Then added coolant and bleed the system.
> noticed the fans wouldn't turn on I checked the relays and the fuses, all seem to be working. I still don't get any activity with the fans.
> I tested the fans by connecting them straight to the batty and they worked fine
> replaced the heat sensor thinking it wasn't communicating correctly but no luck with that. if I unplug the wires from the new heat sensor the fans turn right on, but when its plugged back in it stops working after 10 sec. give or take. I know the fans run as needed bases but it wont turn on even if its overheating.... any help would be appreciated thanks

To AskTrannyMan; Do you know where i can find the other sensor? The thermostat is working properly but i can relapse it to remove that from the equation. The engine will heat up as normal and stops around the half way mark. which that is thats not the normal location it should stop. now if i start to drive about 2 miles in itll start to heat up past the half way point. and the fans still wont turn on.
