Overheating

Asked by Guru5X5JC Jan 07, 2018 at 11:04 AM about the 2004 Pontiac Aztek STD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

04 Pontiac Aztek, 3400 v6, only overheats when
transmission engaged. Engined flushed,
thermostat changed, radiator cap changed, water
pump good, no signs of bad gaskets. Will run for 2
hrs in park and no problem. Drive it a mile and gets
hot enough to boil over back into the reservoir.

check the fan relay. if the fan doesn't com on it will heat up after a period of time. when it gets hot open the hood to see if the electric fan is on. if not try a new relay. if that still doesn't work, jump the fan direct.
