Car will not stay running

Asked by Kristopher Aug 24, 2017 at 07:51 PM about the 2005 Pontiac Sunfire Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Pontiac sunfire will start but cut off
immediately. It's like it's not getting any
fuel but I just put a new fuel pump on .
What could be the problem?

Had same issue. Would "false start", but wouldn't crank. Tried starter, ignition, resetting passlock( try this first, it's worked for others. Instructions online )...nothing. Got a quote for $1300 to replace computer... no thanks! Found out it was old wiring in the instrument cluster. Got a used one with 30 extra miles for $110 bucks. Took me all of an hour to replace a few old wires and install new cluster alone. Been running strong for 2 years.
