Car temperature gage jump up but not overheat

Hi.
I have a question regarding my car temp gage. I
noticed that the gage jump up more than half
(which its usually be) but never cross the red zone
(overheat). Any ideas what problem is that?

check the thermostat it might be bad i had to replace mine because it wouldnt let the coolant cycle through properly
