2006 hesitates when accelerating

Car has 70,000 on it.  Just started hesitating when doing a hard acceleration.  Possibly the transmission?  I have also seen that it could be a cracked spark plug.  I'd appreciate any ideas/suggestions before I start throwing money at problems that don't exist. Also, I put 88.5 octane in it just before this problem started.

my daughter has a mini .if she doesnt put 91 octane plus in, it well hesitate..she has 70,000 miles on it and the transmission just went(2004)..it was still under extended warr....thank god..cost would have been close to 7,000....if she came to abrupt stop it would chug..hesitate...???? then suddenly went..good luck ..hope its the gas 4 u..
