Check Engine P0499

Asked by LtBackup Oct 10, 2016 at 09:51 AM about the 2006 Pontiac G6 Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello!

My check engine came on recently, and the code read is P0499. I have
read some thoughts that this could be an issue with the gas cap, and may
not require more than a quick replacement. If that is the case, should I
expect the check engine light to turn itself off after the replacement? Do I
need to get the light cleared? (AutoZone would not clear it for testing
purposes). Am I completely on the wrong track here?

Thanks for the help!
Jim

the definition of that code is Evaporative Emission System Vent Valve Control Circuit High so replace your gas cap and it should go off on its own
