need help with a popping sound.

I have a 1999 aurora 4.0 liter. The car is low on power and will make a  popping sound when i accelerate from a stop. popping sound seems to be coming from the intake. Any help would be appreciated.

Migth a miss fire and I'd start with checking the spark plugs and leads to see all are working correctly.

I am going to do a full tune up this weekend. I just seems weird that it only happens when i accelerate.

When you accelerate the throttle opens to mix fuel and air and any miss fire will get worse then as any unburt fuel will fire back into the chamber.
