Anyone have a detailed knowledge or explanation of the front venting system for heat on 2001 olds silhouette/chevy venture/pontiac montana? Mine won't put air out the dash vents, only defroster and at the feet?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 olds Silhoutte and the front heating vent system will only put
out air through the defroster and below to the feet. I have taken out the
glove box and found the one assy that controls the switching of the air and
it seems to be working there, but no air out the dash vents. I took out the
control bar and there is no physical hookups for the vacuum lines, so I am
guessing that they are somewhere else. Any pics or explanations would be
helpful.

The vac lines probably meet at the back of the heater panel. You will need to take out the heater panel to see them. Many GM cars use a controller that turns to different positions when you change the selector switch on the face of the assembly. If that piece is broken, the selector cannot change which vent to direct the air to with the vacuum lines.
