2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Asked by GuruDTD4N Aug 15, 2017 at 10:27 PM about the 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue 4 Dr GL Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My grandpa has a 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue and it
has been sitting for about 1 1/2 years now. The car
only has 39,000 mikes which is amazing. I started
the car for the first time in a very long time. Took a
few key turns but it started but I noticed massive
amounts of white smoke was coming out of the car.
Is that normal for a car that's been sitting for a while
or should I be concerned. I only let the car run for a
total of 4 minutes because I didn't wanna cause any
type of damage to the car.

No that is normal. Build of condensation after a time will cause smoke. Oil is old too so it would time to cycle. My suggestion is to change oil and let the engine idle for a few mins

Also add some Stabil or something to the gas as the gas attracts condensation. Usually by changing the oil and running a tank or two of gas through this should not happen.

if it has only 39.000 miles not a head gasket problem. But if it does this white smokes all the time, think about it seriously. I hope it is not 139.000 miles.
