I have a 1996 Exlorere XLT - 4.0 4X4 .... transmission is slipping.  I have access to a 1992 4.0 4x4 transmiission - will it work?

Thanks - just figured out what was wrong with the tranny and I found a 4R55E on Oregon with only 60K miles for $700.00 shipped..
