Why?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The trim around the outside of my windshield is coming undone literally around the windshield has black plastic molding and its coming off. Never seen any car with this problem. My friend assures me its nothing to worry about cuz it's strictly cosmetic that it has no function other than cosmetic. I still don't want to leave it like this. Can I replace it? Will it start to cause problems if I don't repair it? It's gonna have to be a non-dealership fix or have a home remedy of sorts cuz its ugly and I'm really no okay with it. Please help!
