Yes, aftermarket are fine. Forget the stealership. Only the factory makes adjustable shocks for the Pathfinder, since they would be Nissan-specific. On my beloved former 1995 Pathfinder, I installed four Ranco RS5000s, and either cut off the shock wire, or tied it out of the way, I don't remember. When I replaced it with a 1999 almost two years ago, the front suspension on the new vehicle was absolutely dead. I had KYB GR2s, (formerly Gas-A-Just) put on all four corners, and what a difference that made. The 1994/1995 has four shocks. If you are handy with a wrench, I'd say install them yourself and save a bunch in labor charges. That's what I did for my 95. My 99, I did the rear shocks, but my mechanic did the front struts. Another very important thing about your 94. Check the frame thoroughly for any signs of frame rust, a common problem to the first generation of Pathfinders. I had to get rid of my 95 because of that. The frame had rusted so bad that it was unsafe to drive. Look into the KYB shocks. You will be happy with the way they perform.
