T-bird wont start.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I changed the oil in my 97 T-bird. Afterwards I cranked it up normally and let it idle up on the car ramps for about 15 minutes. It suddenly died and would not start back up. It will still try to crank but won't turn over.

Is there such a thing as putting in too much oil? My manual said my car holds 5.3 quarts. I put in 6 because my car burns oil and I have to add a quart every couple of months. I have since drained a quart back out.

Yes you czn put in too much oil, it will increase the pressure in the sump and force oil up the cylinders znd MAY czuse the motor to lock or become hzrd to turn. let it drain, drain out so e oil, make sure its not too thick putting in thick oil does sometimes help but can cause other problems with the lifters etc. drain, out about two pints, run standing for 20 minutes then add the correct rems7nder oil
