2000 Nissan Xterra at 125,000 for 5,000. Good deal?

I am a college film student looking for a bigger car to carry film equipment. I want to know if this is a good deal. The car
is in excellent condition. It's a private owner and he was the only one that ever owned the car. Should I take the deal?
It's a 2000 Nissan Xterra at 125,000 miles for 5,000. Will I be paying a lot for gas? Does anyone see any issues I might
have?

get a carfax report and have a mechanic look at it before you buy it. just because it looks clean you might not know if it has mechanical issue. and at 125k the timing belt should have been replaced, if he/she didn't you're might be looking at $500+ service charge. my 2002 Xterra SE v6 gives around 18 mpg hwy miles, and i have 200k miles and its runs like brand new. join clubxterra.org if u get it.

Make sure timing belt has been changed biggest thing with Xterras. I would also plug in a OBD to see if any check engine lights are being hidden. I own an Xterra and love it but they do not get great gas mileage no matter if it is 2WD or 4WD. If he's the only owner I would press him for maint. records plus have someone that knows Xterras check it out. Sometimes a great deal is a great deal for a reason and you don't want to get taken.
The price is a little high. The book value is probably around 3000. I have a 2007 xterra I bought new. Never had any real problems it's got 125,000 now and it needs about 3500 in repairs
