Recovered our stolen Maxima. Now won't start.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi. I read a little here about the keysense system
and I'm not going to ask how to bypass it or how to
hotwire the car because, apparently, there are too
many people who know how to do that as it is.
What I do know is that our 2000 Maxima was
stolen and has now been recovered. We have only
been able to find some wires cut that look to be a
part of the air conditioner system but the car is
completely unresponsive to the key. Reconnecting
the cut wires has had no effect. So, my two-part
question is: Do the air-conditioner wires have
anything to do with the keysense system? If so, is
the system resettable or has it likely been
destroyed? Thank you.

The AC has nothing to do with the car not starting. You may get lucky getting it reset at the dealer. If no luck the with the car being 17 years old it may cost you more to get it fixed then the car is worth.

Of course, because of the age, taking it to the dealer is out. Most likely taking it to the junk yard but wanted to give it a try. I just can't understand why they would cut the a/c wires of all things.
