My 07 Camry Hybrid A/C is out, repair est is 1500, does heater coil also need replacing?

Asked by tess2015 Aug 22, 2017 at 10:04 AM about the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Toyota's estimate for A/C repair of course 2000$.... but they said since it is  so labor intensive to get to the A/C and Heater coils, I should go ahead and replace heater coil. Found a shop that will do both for 1950$. Nashville TN area. How often does the heater coil go bad?

It is a heater "core" not coil. Yes, I would have it replaced while it is apart and I would use ONLY a genuine Toyota part. Using an aftermarket part will have increased chance of it springing a leak and have to be replaced again.

Thank you, I know about as much of core's and coil's as you probably do putting someone to sleep for anesthesia... Toyota's repair costs are prohibitive for me so far....5k to replace the battery, and $2,300 to fix the A/C and heat. The car's not worth that, and I still have payments....oh...the joys of owning old cars....

Isn't new technology wonderful? Especially when it needs major repairs. Best of luck with it.
