2002 nissan altima 2.5 speed sensor location

Asked by Manda2002 Sep 08, 2016 at 04:08 PM about the 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 nissan altima 2.5 sl, and it's been
slipping into a low gear and not coming back out
until I turn it off and restart it. I've been told by
mechanic family that it's the transmission speed
sensor. I want to replace it myself to save money,
so my question is, which side is it located on and
what's the easiest way to get to it?

Your trans has what Nissan calls a revolution sensor. It is on the back corner of trans. Take the drivers wheel off and remove the plastic covers. Their a housing bolted to the back of trans which will be facing the brakes. Kinda looks like the number 8. In the housing the sensor will slide in too it will kinda pull out towards the brake booster at an angle. Not sure it this will fix your problem but that is where it is
