From http://my.justanswer.com/ shawn patrick Nissan Mechanic: Although it is the same engine so to speak there are a ton of differences between the years, mount points, parts locations on head as well as sensors are different and location of them as well, It would not be a plug and play so to speak, there would need to be harness modifications and a bunch of other mods. You can go with any engine from 2006 and back to 2002 and be fine

I was trying to change a 2006 2.5L to a 2013 2.5L (blown head gasket). The newer engines are cheaper but i guess they won't work
