I've been using regular fuel the whole life of the car and it just started to give
me engine knock, especially when it's hot. There is no error code to tell me the
knock sensor is bad. If I use high octane fuel the knock goes away.

Should I replace the knock sensor anyway, or keep paying for the premium
gas? Just curious why it would all of a sudden do this if it never did before. I
have only 140,000 KM on it (Less than 100K miles).

Use the middle grade gas just as good as the high grade and you could use the low grade gas just not all the time. Every other fill up use middle grade.
