Asked by RLewis52 Nov 03, 2016 at 09:57 PM about the 2004 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE

Question type: General

Im gonna buy this altima. He says its a salvage
and it hasnt been in any major accident. But he
says its salvage due to  headlights, but he installed
new ones. Are headlights a legitimate reason for a
car to be salavge?

It would have to be more than headlights. Insurance companies total a car when it costs more to fix than it is worth. If you car is worth $4,000 for example then $200 to fix headlights would not be a reason to total the car.

No, salvage means something happened to the vehicle and it was cheaper for insurance co. To pay off the blue book value of vehicle. Lights wouldn't cost more than what the car is worth
