Questioning Front Toe Adjustments

Asked by GuruPY5K4 Jan 15, 2020 at 05:29 PM about the 2019 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had the heated steering wheel installed on my new 2019 Honda CR-V at the
dealer.  Upon completion, I noticed the orientation of the steering wheel was
not correct and when I held the steering "straight", the car drove toward the
left.  In other words, instead of the top of the steering being at 12:00 it was at
1:00.  So when I would hold the steering wheel straight at 12:00, the car
went left.

I made two trips back to dealer service for them to remove and reposition the
steering wheel.  Still not right.  On the 3rd return visit, the head guy told them
to put it on the alignment machine.  They adjusted both front toes the same
amount.  This corrected the problem.

MY CONCERN:  Since the wheels were NOT out of alignment, will this
adjustment have negative impact on tire wear?  I feel their final solution was
out of frustration rather than the correct solution.

If the car is aligned you have no worries. If you think they are lying have another shop check it.

I would think it'd be easier to move the wheel over a few spline notches rather than adjust the alignment to the wheel but I'm not sure how it's set up , did they charge you for the alignment ? That could be why . Anyway if they did the alignment then the tires won't wear any more than usual .
