I have a 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5 and i find that if im driving over 80 for long periods of time Especially if im going up hill some of the journey the car will lose power. It will go to 50, 60 or 70 mph sometimes and wont pass there even when the gas pedal is floored. I have to stop the car fir a while and allow it to cool before it will drive normal again. The mechanics in Fl couldnt figure out the issue. One Nissan sealership told me it was my Catalytic converter so i changed that but the issue continued months later. Two of my friends have a 2009 and 2011 Altima and experience the same issue. Many people across the country are having this issue aa well so why wasnt this a recall?

I have experienced the same problem as above on multiple occasions. It does not occur all the time, it is very random. My parents live 1 hour and 10 munutes away from me. Two weeks ago I drove up in the morning and had no issues. Three days ago I drove the same route at about 1130am and about 55 minutes into my drive, I could no longer accelerate. My car coasted along until I went down hill again. This also happened once about 5 years ago on a trip to Las Vegas (about 3 hour drive) and about 3 months ago while I was driving home (1 hour 15 min drive). It seems to occur while traveling up a grade of some type, but doesn't ALWAYS occur. Nothing else happens, no lights come on and the gauges stay the same. On the trip to Vegas, I did stop and pull over for about 20 minutes. We restarted the car and everything was fine. We have taken the car to our mechanic and they found nothing wrong, there is no explanation for this issue. I have a 2009 Nissan Altima. You would think since so many report this issue, Nissan would figure it out. It is seriously a dangerous thing to occur when on the freeway. I almost got hit by a semi truck because of this dramatic and unexpectedly slow down!

What is the repair for this? My daughter is driving out of town and this is happening to her?

Still no solution. When you take the car to the mechanic they cant figure out the issue. Nissan dealerships know of the issue but cannot fix it. This alone will make me not want another Altima.
