If it is an automatic transmission, that is not the correct fluid. How much did you put in it?

Probably won't hurt anything. To be safe, if it were mine I would drain and refill, but you will never get it all out.

After further research I have found that Nissan's transmission fluid and Dexron III / Mercon are "somewhat" compatible. A complete fill of your transmission with Dexron III could cause some sticky valve issues in the valve body. You only added 1 1/2 quarts so you should be fine with no need to drain and refill. I would certainly be sure to use the correct fluid next time.

You can use any kind of fluid you want to. It's your care. The results may not be the best and the repairs may be more than you want to pay. Use your own judgment about it . Personally I would put the correct fluid in the car.
