Driver side window does not work Ford Explorer '97 XLT

Asked by Jul 14, 2017 at 02:55 PM about the 1997 Ford Explorer 4 Dr XLT SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi all the other Windows work perfectly except for
the drivers side window. When I press the window
button I can hear the window trying to move but it
doesnt move. I checked and there's no loose
connection, I'm thinking the motor may need to be
replaced but I'm still unsure

Could also be a binding window regulator or guide rail issue. Only way to know is to pull the door card and check things out. Sometimes the windows on cars need a resync would be nice if that worked but my bet is on a mechanical issue as mentioned.

Drivers side window used most often. The one where the motor usually goes out. If the window is up, try this. Clasp the glass on both sides with the palms of your hands. Push down while someone presses the down button, If it begins to move on it's own, or will move with assistance, probably a weak motor.
